Campus is closed tomorrow, too. Then i'm off to Denver on Wed., if the airplane can make it through the ash haze....
Da deadline at http://www.signonsandiego.com/ sez:
'It's going to get worse'
Take a look at dis map (pdf):

Dat's a huge@ss honkin' fire and s#!+. I'm kinda on the lower left, due east of the top of the bay. So if the two big fires head southwest and northwest--whammo!--no more Smiff. Though i'll probably be in Denver by that point. My next door neighbor from work, Dan, and i are going to tie two inflatable mattresses together and float out into the Pacific Ocean if it comes to dat. But things are looking up: UPS just dropped off a couple bottles from my wine club, so at least i'll go out in style wid a Wilson Creek 2005 Estate Syrah Temecula Valley..."Rich flavors of dark cherry, vanilla, and nutmeg [holy crap! nutmeg!!] accent [accent!] this bold [bold!] and beautiful Syrah. It has firm tannins [sounds HOT!] and sweet oak [mmm...oak...] on the finish. This wine will age beuatifully but is enjoyable now. [take DAT, suckers!]"
Smiff, signing out...maybe forever

Da CNN guy in Rancho Fubaro just said "every neighborhood in San Diego" has dozens of houses on fire, so I guess you really are phokked.
CNN guy: FULL@$H!+.
Shocking!
Let's be clear on the most important thing here: UPS is delivering wine into a disaster area. We are a resilient Nation.
Is this a great country or what?
