next stop for Buddy: the Bush White House?

"We're getting better. In this division, we're going to have to get a lot better, but we're heading in the right direction."--Royals manager Buddy Bell

ME! ME!...I know why...Buddy Bell is a Monumental Idiot!

John Buck supplied the Royals with a pair of solo homers Saturday in a one-run loss to the Marlins.
Both were solo shots, as Ryan Shealy went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts ahead of him in the order. One of the biggest mysteries of the season is why the Royals have refused to move Buck up in the order even though he's been their best hitter from day one this year. Buck has 12 homers this year, but he's only managed 24 RBI. It's true he's hitting better with the bases empty -- only three of his homers have come with runners on -- but it's also a fact that he just hasn't had as many opportunities as most.

in Monumental Idiot news

Scott Elarton was tagged for six runs in two-plus innings by the Cardinals on Thursday.
The Royals gave Elarton nine early runs to work with, but he couldn’t provide them with the innings they needed after Odalis Perez’s short start Wednesday. Elarton now has an 8.54 ERA in seven starts since coming off the DL. He’s given up 11 homers and struck out just 13 in 32 2/3 innings, providing strong evidence that he simply doesn’t have the stuff to succeed as a major leaguer right now. Unfortunately, the Royals seem content with Zack Greinke in the pen, leaving them with no strong candidates to replace Elarton in the rotation. He might keep his spot for now.

more idiocy in K.C.

Zack Greinke, who has been clocked in the upper-90's lately, is now Octavio Dotel's primary backup as the Royals closer.
Rookie Joakim Soria replaced an injured Dotel as the club’s closer earlier this season, but Greinke has surpassed him. "Could he be a closer? Absolutely," said manager Buddy Bell. "He has the stuff to do that. Right now, we’re still thinking more of putting him back in the rotation — at some point. It might not be this year."

Uh...WHY?????? You're the Kansas City Royals and you're going NOWHERE this year. If this team has any future, Greinke needs to be in the rotation NOW, you idiot.

Well, Buddy Bell is a Monumental Idiot.

John Buck slammed his ninth and 10th homers of the season to give the Royals their only runs on Monday.
We still don't think he'll keep it up, but how can the Royals justify sitting Buck 40 percent of the time right now? Manager Buddy Bell decided last week to have Jason LaRue catch Brian Bannister and Scott Elarton, resulting in fewer at-bats for Buck. He obviously needs to be in the lineup more than three out of every five games when he's leading the team in OPS by 150 points.
