Lieberman Contributed to GOP Senate, House Candidates
When Democrats gathered last week to decide the fate of Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), a pair of senators-elect, Tom Udall of New Mexico and Jeff Merkley of Oregon, stepped up to offer symbolically important speeches.
Having ridden the wave of support for President-elect Barack Obama, Udall and Merkley spoke out in favor of the spirit of reconciliation and moving on from the campaign, in which Lieberman was one of the highest profile supporters of the Republican presidential ticket.
But no one in the room knew, as Merkley spoke, that Lieberman had supported Merkley's opponent, Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.). Lieberman, through his Reuniting Our Country PAC, gave Smith's reelection bid $5,000 on Oct. 10, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. . .
Lieberman's support of Smith came the same weekend he wrote an op-ed in the St. Paul Pioneer Press defending Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) for his work as chairman of an investigative subcommittee on Lieberman's homeland security committee. The same day he wrote a check to Smith, Lieberman's ROC PAC gave $5,000 to Rep. Peter King, the Long Island Republican. . .

how to suck at sending Hanukkah cards
News item: A picture of a Christmas tree is not the first thing you would expect to see on an invitation to an event celebrating Hanukkah, but that is exactly what recipients of invitations to this year's White House Hanukkah reception initially got in the mail.

San Diego...Storm...Rain...Whaaaaaa?...End Times??
Storm headed this way is no turkey
If the storm bearing down on the county lives up to its billing, it could bring some of the heaviest local rain in more than 3½ years. Rain should begin this evening but heaviest showers are expected after midnight.

Debridement of his Labrum? Bony Lesion? He's a Chix, right??
The Phillies still feel they're looking at a 4-6 month recovery phase following Chase Utley's hip surgery on Monday. Utley had an arthroscopic debridement of his labrum and a bony lesion that was present. Dr. Bryan Kelly reported the surgery went well and the findings yesterday were consistent with the diagnostic studies performed prior to surgery. Utley's toughness certainly isn't in doubt, and it'd be no surprise to see him back for Opening Day. Still, the Phillies may want to go shopping for a better utilityman than Eric Bruntlett.

Cupcake vs. Cupcake
When the idea for ESPN Classic was cooked up, this couldn't have been what they had in mind.
Navy lost to Notre Dame and Northern Illinois hasn't beaten a team with a winning record all year. Could they both lose?

I dunno who this guy is but Obama should get him on the blower, pronto
Peter Schiff Was Right
Watch how he predicts every upcoming FAIL of the economy while FOX brain-dead morons like Neal Cavuto, Ben Stein, Arthur Laffer and a host of others snear, guffaw, laugh, smirk etc. at his 100% correct predictions. Also notice the financial stocks they recommend, like Washington Mutual. What i want to know is why does Cavuto still has a show, and why (i am sure) most of these proven moronic "experts" are still appearing on it (like the insufferable Ben Stein--the Bill Kristol of the financial sector). This Peter Schiff guy should have a show. By the way, gold is at $817 per ounce. That's about where it was at the beginning of the year, but the price is trending upwards in the last couple of weeks.
In an August 2006 interview Schiff generated much controversy when he repeated his long-held investment thesis: "The United States economy is like the Titanic and I am here with the lifeboat trying to get people to leave the ship ...I see a real financial crisis coming for the United States."
On da udder hand:
Schiff is a firm believer in reducing government regulation of the economy. Schiff worries that Barack Obama will increase such regulation.
Schiff was an economic adviser to [crazy--ed.] Ron Paul's 2008 presidential campaign....

Why yes, only 56 DAYS, 9 Hrs, 4 Mins, 12.8 Secs to go...
Bush, who spoke after meeting with Paulson and other Cabinet members at the Treasury Department, said they all realize that Americans are concerned for their jobs and savings.
"We will safeguard the financial system as the first step necessary for economic recovery," the president said. "This is a tough situation. But we will recover from it."
