Even The Google is ready to get this Christmas party started
Showing results for live-blogging the end times.
Search instead for the original terms: live-glogging the end times
Which reminds me, there is a critical shortage of Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Nog (the One True Egg Nog) in the Chicago area this year. (I blame Obama.) Thank God I stocked up early, though I may still run out before New Year's. Evanston First had none ... none!
In past years it's been more of a self-regulating supply, as I tend to run out at about the same time that I can no longer fit through the door to go out and buy more.

K-Mad will be happy to know
Almost 3 years later, we're still number 1 on Google for golf/plutocracy nexus. Didn't Briggs have a band by that name?

Fung def Sarge, Corporal
Well, we're back from the state that finally voted correctly, which we got to thru the state that nobody thought would vote correctly, but we're very glad they did. Fungster did well, defeating Sarge & Corporal and taking lotsa pictures in the process, other than the ones the vanquished took when we were giving them a false sense of security. Details, of course, are at the Spades Marathon blog site, so if you really want to snooze...
Did you know that you could send emails to the blog and they would appear as posts? Fung was struggling with trying to type in stuff in the small ass window on his Google phone (you'd think that the Google phone and the blogger, both owned by the Google, would be a match made in heaven, right? Nope.). Not to mention that some guy was screaming in his ear about how every single drive on that road at that time was a freaking moron and didn't know how to drive. But once he figgered dat out, things were much easier. Except for labeling of course, but you can do that afterward. Or just let Smiff do it for you.
Also, this I believe brings us up to 10 posts for the week. 10 posts? That's like a deluge! If we double them to 20, that will be like the most since like February or something! Oh, W. We miss you, and Dick (Dick) "Dick" Dick, and Condi, and Rummy, and Turblossom, and all those other guys that made this blog possible.
Not mentioned: A whole buncha guys who couldn't give a phokk about Spades, Briggs.

How does the Google's all-seeing eyeball in the sky know I'm a nort'-side drunken a$$#ole?
Gmail is trying to sell me a "Horry Kow" t-shirt. $13.99!

when the End Times come (are they here yet?), LoC will bear a substantial responsibility
LoC is currently the only Google hit for "live-blogging the End Times."

John Coleman hates to say he told you so, but John Coleman told you so

"Forty-four percent of U.S. voters now say long-term planetary trends are the cause of global warming, compared to 41% who blame it on human activity..."

the moose whisperer was right
Obama wid da tarrists? Well, duh:
Al Jazeera: Jubilation follows Obama victory
On an unrelated note: if the Google is so smart, how come its spell-checker still flags "Obama?"

more liberal nitpicking - the kind of thing only an America-hating smarty-pants elitist would notice
The McCain Tech Policy In Action!
"...this latest gaff, running a picture of Walter Reed Middle School on the green screen behind McCain instead of Walter Reed Hospital because they screwed up a Google images search, has certainly cemented not merely McCain, but the McCain campaign, as being in the ranks of the terminally clueless on matters technical."

You go to the convention with the nominee you have
L.A. Times: One Republican strategist with close ties to the campaign described the candidate's closest supporters as "keeping their fingers crossed" in hopes that additional information does not force McCain to revisit the decision. According to this Republican, who would discuss internal campaign strategizing only on condition of anonymity, the McCain team used little more than a Google Internet search as part of a rushed effort to review Palin's potential pitfalls. Just over a week ago, Palin was not on McCain's short list of potential running mates, the Republican said.

Google This
So, I googled Fungster, just to see what would come up. Apparently, there are other Fungsters out there. I always suspected there were, since I couldn't get fungster @ aol or yahoo and in some other instances, though sometimes I thought I'd signed up for something and then had forgottend the password or canceled it and that's why it was unavailable. But there were quite a few as it turned out. So much for thinking I'm unique...

The Google Reaches Out to Librarians

This is not the Google we knew
Librarians Accuse Google of Using and Discarding Them
Is Google casting aside the library community? That’s the recent conclusion of some librarians. The giant technology company once courted librarians to back its controversial project that digitizes books from academic libraries and makes all or parts of the texts available online. Now it seems Google no longer needs them, the librarians say.
Steven M. Cohen, a senior librarian at Law Library Management Inc., notes on his blog that Google last updated its “Librarian Central” blog a year ago. And he and Roy Tennant, a librarian with the Online Computer Library Center, say that, atypically, Google wasn’t present at the American Library Association’s annual conference last month, even though it was held in Anaheim, Calif. “only one short plane ride away from the Googleplex” also in California, writes Mr. Tennant.
“So, Google will continue to use librarians, scan their books, profit from it, and then leave us in the information dust to rot like an old microfilm machine,” writes Mr. Cohen. “It’s sad really. But then again, we fell for it.”

who said it? (no Googling)
"Information is the oxygen of the modern age. It seeps through the walls topped by barbed wire, it wafts across the electrified borders. The Goliath of totalitarianism will be brought down by the David of the microchip."
