This marks the 35th straight year that global temperatures were warmer than normal. NOAA's records for world average temperatures date back to 1880.

"Sure, it would be disgusting and perverted, and they would be shaming themselves and their loved ones. But under our system of government, it is their right to be barbarians."

Rev. Franklin Graham - born a jackass

Rev. Franklin Graham: President Obama 'born a Muslim'

His problem is that his father was a jackass, and the seed of jackassery is passed through the father. But he says he has renounced jackassery and become a Christian, so I guess we'll just have to accept it as that.

Snow Leopard vs Windows 7

So Fung just bought himself a new laptop with Windows 7 on it. He was also FORCED to buy baby sis a new computer with Snow Leopard on it (or at least I think it's on there, we did buy refurbished). So Fung thinks to himself - hey, I can look at both, and praise or trash them using his blog! I guess I'll have to pry the computer from my sisters hands at some point - maybe we'll swap just for the grins. I will say so far on the Windows 7 side that the taskbar at the bottom looks eerily similar to the dock that OS X has had since, what, the beginning of time? Sigh. I sees myself having lotsa fun with dis one...

Howie Long: Asshole

The excruciating and mildly amusing commercials of the tourney

3. Howie Long. Do you want me to hate Howie Long, Chevrolet? Because I do. I couldn't hate him more if he spent all day yesterday sitting next to me and jabbing me in the thigh with a pitchfork every time I blinked. And when I think about how much more Howie Long I'm going to be seeing over the next few weeks, it makes me hate Howie Long even more.
Tell me, Howie, what's so unmasculine about a having a step to get in the back of your truck? Are all truck owners expected to have a 40-inch vertical leap? There's literally no other scenario on the planet where a person would be expected to navigate a climb of that height without the use of a step. But this poor guy is the object of Howie Long's derision because he wants a step to get into the bed of his truck?
What's your deal, Howie Long? What do you have against the use of basic technology to help a person do something they might not otherwise be able to easily do? Man-step. What do you want to the guy to do, pole vault into the back of the truck? Do you stand outside of public buildings all day, Howie, waiting for someone who uses a wheelchair to use an entrance ramp, and then say, "Hey buddy, way to use your little man-ramp"? Jerk.

And am i the only one to notice his pedophile ad? The one with the annoying little girl, a close-up of his crotch and her pointing at it, before they get into the back seat of a truck together? That's the ad. Really.

I am never buying a fucking Chevy. Fuck them and FUCK Howie Long. ASSHOLE.

oh, get over it already...

Greenland melt seems to be picking up speed, blah blah blah

More than two trillion tons of land ice in Greenland, Antarctica and Alaska have melted since 2003, according to new NASA satellite data that show the latest signs of what scientists say is global warming.

Did you catch that, my friends? "What scientists say is global warming..." a couple of drinks and you could probably get them to say almost anything.

Scientists studying sea ice will announce that parts of the Arctic north of Alaska were about 5 to 6 degrees Celsius, or 9 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit, warmer this past autumn, a strong early indication of what researchers call the Arctic amplification effect... As sea ice melts, the Arctic waters absorb more heat in the summer, having lost the reflective powers of vast packs of ice. That absorbed heat is released into the air in the autumn. That has led to autumn temperatures in the last several years that are 3.5 to 6 degrees Celsius warmer than they were in the 1980s...

"The pace of change is starting to outstrip our ability to keep up with it, in terms of our understanding of it..." (In other words, they're making it up... Ed.)

Two other studies presented at the conference assess how Arctic thawing is releasing methane - a potent greenhouse gas. One study shows that the loss of sea ice warms the water, which warms the permafrost on nearby land in Alaska, thus producing methane...

A second study suggests even larger amounts of frozen methane are trapped in lake beds and sea bottoms around Siberia and they are starting to bubble to the surface in some spots in alarming amounts, said Igor Semiletov, a professor at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks (where Putin rears his head... Ed.). Late last summer, Semiletov found methane bubbling up from parts of the East Siberian Sea and the Laptev Sea at levels 10 times higher than those of the mid-1990s, he said.

The amounts of methane in the region could dramatically increase global warming if they get released, he said.

Brett Favre update

Favre, the New York Jets' newest quarterback, was introduced to the city by Mayor Michael Bloomberg at a packed City Hall press conference Friday.

A wide-eyed Favre walked into the Blue Room and was greeted by dozens of flashing camera lights. He got a number of gifts from Bloomberg, including a couple of cheesecakes.

LoC will keep you posted on what kind of cheesecakes they were as soon as the information becomes available.

A Fitting End

The Messiah, Brett Favre, has been traded.

To the Jets.

Why doesn't the NFL re-locate a team to Mississippi?

The agent for Brett Favre says a resolution involving his client and a trade is close. "It looks like it's going to be New York or Tampa Bay," said agent Bus Cook. "We're waiting to find out and we could learn in the next hour or so." Of course, this was said hours ago. The Jets are reportedly offering the most compensation, while the Bucs are probably Favre's preferred destination. Stay tuned.
