Villone? Vizcaino? Sometimes, even good managers are idiots. Can someone explain why getting, say, the 3-4-5 hitters out in the 8th inning is easier than getting the 6-7-8 hitters out in the 9th inning? Anyone? Sarge?
Manager Joe Torre said Tuesday that he's unlikely to use Joba Chamberlain in save situations when Mariano Rivera gets a day off. "It's easy to say after what we've seen so far, yeah, no problem (closing)," Torre said. "But we still have to keep in mind that he's 21 years old and [Monday] was his first exposure to Yankee Stadium. I'd rather go with experience."

It's kind of like every time Joe Torre talks about the bullpen you slam your head against the wall. But he's the one who gets the brain damage.
I don't think it would be a tragedy if Joe Torre was no longer the Yankees manager.
Having said that, he seems like a helluva guy.
