just in time for the Chukar Cherries playoff push...
Multiple sources report that the Tigers will call up top prospect Cameron Maybin prior to Friday's game against the Yankees. General manager Dave Dombrowski said last week that Maybin would not play in the majors this season, but both the Detroit Free Press and Asheville Citizen-Times report that those plans have changed. The 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft, Maybin has emerged as one of the elite prospects in baseball at just 20 years old. He was promoted from Single-A to Double-A last week, so a call-up to the big leagues comes as a huge surprise at this point and it's unclear how much playing time he'll get in the Tigers' outfield.
