Lumbering elephant Daryle Ward's injured calf has improved more quickly than anticipated and he is now on pace to return to the Cubs in mid-August.

He's done a pretty good job with the stick, but a team that only has a 5 man bench because they're carrying 12 pitchers doesn't have the luxury of carrying a guy this one dimensional.
