Things That Suck: The New York Mets

Scott Schoeneweis, Omar Minaya and Willie Randolph. Remember when Schoeneweis totally sucked with the White Sox? He later sucked with the Reds, but the Mets still signed him to a 3 year, 10.8 mEEEEEELLLLion dollar contract (career ERA: 4.94). And then he proceeded to SUCK in his 1st year with the Muts. Was Omar Minaya on crack? There must be dozens of lefties in the minors who can do what he does (SUCK) for the league minimum. So... you have a pitcher that can't find the plate in a tie game (and you leave him in?), and then you intentionally walk the bases loaded. Yes, it sets up a force play, but if he can't throw a strike, what phokking difference does it make?

Paul McAnulty had a walkoff HBP against the Mets' Scott Schoeneweis in the Padres' 2-1 victory on Thursday. After entering a tie game, Schoeneweis walked the first two batters he faced and then failed on his first attempt to corral Adrian Gonzalez's shot up the middle, forcing him to settle for getting one out at first. An intentional walk to load the bases followed, and Schoeneweis' first pitch to McAnulty hit him up by his shoulder. It made a winner of Trevor Hoffman, who pitched a scoreless top of the ninth.

Scott has been great this year. Yes he had a bad game, but baseball performance is not indicative on one bad outing. You don't know what you're talking about.

Thanks, anonymous moron. I'll bet you a mEEEELLLLIon dollars his ERA at the end of the year will be closer to his career (4.95) than his current (2.66). That 10/10 K/W ratio will be catching up to him pretty soon.

(And why leave a pitcher in who can't throw a strike? Is Willie trying trying to get fired?)

You're right though, baseball performance is not indicative on one bad outing. It's indicative of a career of bad performances. So my money will be on him to continue SUCKING.

Also see: Brett Tomko for a "proven veteran" who has sucked his entire career and yet keeps getting signed...

I was hoping Smiff would find this thread soon...

As Ray 'Bones' Barboni said as he was pounding the crap out of Harry Zimm in Get Shorty:

"You know, Harry, this is {*POW*} the exact phokkking thing I needed... {*BAM*} a little phokking exercise... {*BIFF*} after that long phokking... {*BOP*} plane ride..."
