CTA airport express plan crippled

$100 million in cost overruns cited

The CTA's original budget on the project was $130 million in 2005.

The CTA has spent about $250 million to date "for a shell in the middle of the city," said CTA board member Susan Leonis, a longtime opponent of the "airport express" plan devised by former CTA president Frank Kruesi.

"This project has been a disaster," Leonis said.

A disaster? Well now... that is a surprise.

Speaking of surprises, k-mad was startled to see how nice the Howard Purple/Red/S#i+-Blowing-Up Nexus station is starting to look. The trains, on the other hand, still don't move.

But why would you ever want the train to move you away from the nice station?

Somehow, the nice station is not enough to offset the I'd-rather-watch-flies-phokk excitement of watching the trains not move. Even the recording of the psychotic pterodactyl dismembering its young that used to play across the street, which used to be the only entertainment aside from not getting urinated on by the drunks, appears to be gone. Gone!
