Why did I get stuck with the boring simulation?

News Item: Nick Bostrom, philosopher and director of the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford University, says there is a 20 percent chance that we -- all of us, everybody -- are not real, but just billions of consciousness simulations being run on some super computer universe simulator.

Academia is dead.

Bostrom's on a group blog with one of my professors, a blog I read every day, but I can't say I remember anything Bostrom's ever written.

So we're in like a giant game of civ? Cool.

Actually it would be more like the Sims for us individuals. W and Hugo and Vlad would be running Civ games to rule over us. Daley would be running Sim City, and the CTA would be running Railroads.

Smiff would be the guy controlling all the natural disasters in Sim City. He's good at randomly phokking things up.
