Now with a matching helmet!

Back-to-school goes ballistic

Parents have a new item to add to their kids' back-to-school supplies list: the bulletproof backpack. Just in time for the new academic year, Massachusetts-based MJ Safety Solutions has unveiled My Child's Pack, described on the company's website as the first "full size, lightweight ballistic protection backpack that is affordable and practical."

Note how you didn't see the blond girl's face in either picture. She must be a bear...

A bullet proof backpack, and they say it's practical? How many schoolchildren get shot in the back through the backpack per year?

I say cut out the middleman. Home school the kids through a PS2 or Xbox Halo portal on the basics, reading, writhing and arithmatic while simultaneously teaching advanced tactics and hand to hand combat technique. Then send them off to war.

You can skip the reading and arithmatic education, but keep the writhing. That'll serve them well when we send them off to war.
