When Mediocre NL Central Teams Collide

It might never end...

Kosuke Fukudome reached five times and stole his second base Monday as the Cubs defeated the Pirates 10-8 in 12 innings. The Cubs let the Pirates come all of the way back to tie it after taking a 7-0 lead in the third, and they probably should have lost it in the ninth. After Ryan Doumit (Phant!) doubled and pinch-runner Brian Bixler advanced to third on a groundout, Jose Bautista dropped down a squeeze attempt. However, Bixler declined to take off from third, and first baseman Derrek Lee was able to tag Bautista for the second out. Luis Rivas then grounded out to end the threat, and the score remained 8-8 until the Cubs scored twice without the benefit of a hit in the 12th.
