I can name maybe a dozen players in the NBA. Let's see, Carmello, Dr. J, uh, does Moses Malone still play? Dat's about it. But that didn't stop me from totally dominating the football league last year...

You'd be acquiring the franchise previously owned by Mac (9th place finish last year in an 11-team league). You could keep anywhere from zero to all 13 of his players. You would submit the list of whom you'd be keeping to Fungai by email by noon October 17. For each player you drop, you'll have a pick in the email draft (aka "the Kevin Durant Derby") will be conducted from Oct. 18-27. Wait, hold it. I'm going to be in Denver from Oct 24-27. Don't know about email access, but it will probably be very limited at best. Best just to say i won't be available during that time. So i don't know how that would work.

Does this league inc. owners who haven't paid Decker? (and by extension, me?) I'm just sayin', once i get funded, i would then send in the dough (or get it from Sarge).; October 11, 2007 at 12:25 PM

You can always leave a list/trust someone to pick for you in those days, who knows, maybe we'll be done by then.
Do we have folks that haven't paid Sarge? Perhaps (most folks are in both leagues), but we separated the two league's finances years ago, and I'm not about to recombine them. Though it would probably be acceptable for Sarge to pay for you, he would have to agree to that as well before we got to our Feb 1 deadline for funds.

I can't access either of those websites ("members only").

I recognize about half the names on Mac's team. Why was this team so bad?

Decker said he might pay me by the beginning of next season (and i haven't been paid entirely for last season yet), which is considerably after Feb. 1st. I think that's a combination of people not paying, and Sarge coverin' the rent. I'm not so much of an @sshole about it now since i actually get paid to work (as opposed to those fucking assholes at Northwestern), and i'm no longer living paycheck to paycheck. Neverthless, i need to draw the line somewhere. And though these leagues aren't "combined," i don't think i want to paying for one while still waiting to get paid for the other. So, i guess, if i didn't see a substantial payout by Feb 1 for WC, my team will be abandoned and languish as a lame duck for the rest of the season. Think Bushian, but you'll still have most of your civl liberties and i'll try to speak in complete sentences. ANyway, maybe by then you will have conned somebody else to take it.; October 11, 2007 at 2:24 PM

The team isn't that bad - there was really high parity last year. Two years ago the point gap 1st to last was 54.5 (champ 93.5, last 39), but last year it was only 25 (champ 82, last 57) with the same rules.; October 11, 2007 at 2:39 PM

A lotta people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a buncha unconnected incidences and things. They don't realize that there's this like lattice of coincidence that lays on top of everything. I'll give ya an example, show ya what I mean. Suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. Suddenly somebody will say like, "plate" -- or "shrimp" -- or "plate of shrimp" -- out of the blue, no explanation. No point looking for one either. It's all part of a cosmic unconsciousness.

"You know the way everybody's into weirdness right now? Books in all the supermarkets about Bermuda Triangles, UFOs, how the Mayans invented television, that kind of thing? Well the way I see it it's exactly the same. There ain't no difference between a flying saucer and a time machine.... People get so hung up on specifics, they miss out on seeing the whole thing. Take South America for example. In South America, thousands of people go missing every year. Nobody knows where they go. They just like disappear. But if you think about it for a minute, you realize something: there had to be a time when there was no people right? Well, where did all these people come from? Hmm? I'll tell you where: the future. Where did all these people disappear to: hmmm? the past. How did they get there? Flying saucers, which are really... yeah, you got it! Time machines!"
