AWFUL.

Cubs acquired catcher Jason Kendall and cash from the Athletics for catcher Rob Bowen and LHP Jerry Blevins.
The cash will cover a portion of his $13 million salary, which had been being paid by both the A's ($8 million) and the Pirates ($5 million). With a .226/.261/.281 line this year, Kendall is no sure upgrade...unless he were to replace a dead guy.

And the one question we have to ask, in the face of that brilliant bleedfuckingstupid.com post about ARod...

Is Kendall "workmanlike"?

Because that's all it takes.

I mean, is he a lunch pail kind of guy?

I don't want no sissyfucks that drink red wine and wear fancy pants.

Does this guy wear jeans?

I mean, is he a lunch pail kind of guy?

Jason Kendall is a Triple-G threat: a gritty, gutty, gamer. What's more, he's a throwback. He also leaves it all out on the field. He eats nails for breakfast. At the end of the game, check the man's uniform--it's dirty. And have you ever seen his game face? It's fucking terrifying.

And in related news...
Michael Barrett had three hits and drove in three of the Padres' five runs in Monday's victory. (Hey, isn't this guy a veteran? And isn't he fiery?? Is Jimbo working the phone to get this guy, or what???)

Yeah, but Gary Hughes said that he watched him hit in Minnesota last week and that his swing is really coming around. And Gary Hughes is the superduperest scout their is in all of baseball.

You forgot the "Maybe he just needs a change of scenery" bs line they always use in these cases. I mean, he's making 13 mil, so he has to be good. You know, like how the White Sox are paying out so much money, so they should be winning. It worked for the Yankees for 8 straight years or however long it's been.
