Ed Wade: he's a modern-day Robin Hood...

...for crappy, veteran relief pitchers:

Oscar Villarreal has refused his assignment to Triple-A, with the Houston Chronicle reporting that the Astros will release him if they can't find a taker via trade. Villarreal was designated for assignment last week, just three months after inking a two-year, $2.85 million deal with the Astros.

This is that famous "Ed Wade Go For It Now!" attitude we read so much about bearing fruit. Tejada's sucked since Tax Day as well.

And Roy Oswalt is graying in front of our eyes - though I hope he's got something left in the tank because I kind of like him.

Only Berkman is unqualifiedly awesome.

And C. Lee is pretty good.

But man, that team was put together with spit and incantations. Cecil Cooper is saying some pretty dumb things about how they've had bad luck. Odd how bad luck is often the residue of bad planning in baseball.

It's funny how the teams that lack talent also lack luck.
