So what is the correct way...

...to display the Olympic standings? The US seems to be going by total medals, which we're winning, while almost everyone else is going by gold medals, which the Chinese are winning.

Yeah, how quickly the conservative American obsession with "winning" goes out the window when America hasn't won the most events. Suddenly, the honor and value of 2nd and 3rd place are being extolled!

Silver medalist is first loser! We should make bumper stickers that say this before it's too late.

Currently: USA 34 gold, 37 silver (loser), 36 bronze (YOOOGE loser); China 49 gold, 19 silver, 28 bronze.

If we go with 3 points for gold, 2 for silver, 1 for bronze that comes to China 213, USA 212. I blame our butterfingered relay teams. And of course, all the judges.

Yeah, but there many more people in China, so we're winning on a per capita basis. Actually, that probably means Trinidad & Tobago is on top.
