What was the question and answer? I can't watch it at work.
The question was essentially "Why can't 1/5th of Americans read a map?"(a really retarded question to ask at Miss Teen USA). The answer, well, you have to watch or read, coz she just went on an on coz she didn't know what to say.
Ah, ok. The correct answer is that we've become a shallow society that breeds and celebrates ignorance.
It made me uncomfortable. Watching.
Give her a break, Dude! She wants to help South Africans learn - what's wrong with that? And a lot of "U.S. Americans" don't have maps - that's a FACT. I think she nailed it.
These contests are an exercise in hypocracy. The women should be genetically tested to make sure they are good stock, the girls should be heavily judged on beauty and phokkability, and strength and intelligence should be measured in a more straight-forward way.
Ideally, the contestents should then be given to a royal family for breeding.
Anything else is a sham(e).
