Republicans and the thinking problem

Eight in 10 Republicans in a new Washington Post-ABC News poll say a default would cause serious harm to the economy, but just 30 percent say it’s essential to raise the limit in a contemporaneous Pew Research Center poll. And 47 percent of Republicans in a new NBC/WSJ poll say that not raising the debt limit would be a "real and serious problem."

For Republicans, there is no inconsistency there. Let me use a parallel example.

Eight in 10 Christians in a new Washington Post-ABC News poll say the end times will cause serious harm to the economy, but just 30 percent say it's essential to pray to stop the end times.

And they acuse liberals of being anti-American. Republicans are so sure of themselves that they are willing to bring the house down on themselves because they think what's next is going to be so much better. The tree of liberty and everything and refreshed and blood and stuff.
