In The Quiet American Graham Greene writes about a clueless CIA bumbler who comes into Vietnam in the late 1950s and wrecks lives left and right but is still lovable. Even in death.
Apparently George W. Bush is aspiring to loveableness.
Somewhere Graham Greene is throwing up ghost-globs.
(plot synopsis is a gross simplification...)
Its so laughable that his comparison is so apropos but that the specifics of his comparison are so misguided.
So I guess we should have stayed in Viatnam too now? That's cool. If only we would have stayed, end time prophesy would have already been fulfilled. Damn us.
We have to stay in Iraq, don't you see, because we have to help Jerusalem be put back in the hands of Israel so that they can rebuild the Temple setting the stage for the 2nd coming and armageddon and the rapture and all that stuff. These fucking loonies are consiously waging war with the ultimate goal being the end of the world.
