Nothing better to do?
Congress honors Blackhawks -- despite 5 'no' votes
What's even more shocking than whatever this was, was that good ol' Ronnie Paul wasn't one of the no votes. Unless they do this for every pro team that wins, they need to stick to the job of, I don't know, fixing all that ails this country.

Chicago catches the ice hockey fever (or maybe it's the bird flu)
Whose jersey do you see most around the city of Chicago?
: Patrick Kane
: Jonathan Toews
: Patrick Sharp
: Brian Campbell
: Player from the past
: What in the name of sweet Jesus are you talking about?

Signs of the Apocalypse?
Sports bulletin: Blackhawks (who?) win 7 in a row, 15 players weren't born yet the last time that happened.
sKILLy bulletin: -3 degrees. Fahrenheit. That would be -20 degrees Centigrade.
Oh, no, wait, that's hell freezing over. My bad.

coming soon: MLB gets a chance to find out how nice a Miller Genuine Draft logo looks on a pitcher's mound
Ed Sherman: The Blackhawks have released an artist's rendition of what Wrigley Field will look like on Jan. 1 for the Winter Classic game against Detroit.
I have to say it looks pretty cool in more ways than one. The rink is going to be situated from first to third, and there will be lines showing the exact location of the baseball diamond. The on-deck circles will have the Hawks and Red Wings logos.

...there isn't any advertising on the boards or anywhere else on the field in the drawing. You know that won't be the case on Jan. 1.
In other news, the Blackhawks lead the league in attendance. Don't these lemmings know that all those local broadcasts of home games are driving down the value of their tickets?

forecast: rain
Blackhawks to play at Wrigley Jan. 1
(AP) — Wrigley Field is going to be the frozen confines on New Year's Day when the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings meet the Chicago Blackhawks outdoors in the Chicago Cubs' home park.
It will be the NHL's second Winter Classic. On January 1st in Buffalo, the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Buffalo Sabres before a crowd of 71,217.
Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz calls it a "once in a lifetime event" and says he expects the game to draw international interest.
The game will be televised nationally on NBC.

something so totally stooopendous-sounding it's amazing nobody ever thought of it before
Home TV begins Nov. 11 vs. Wings
"We will deliver the experience of what it's like to be at a Blackhawk game at the United Center with live, on-site coverage during the pre- and postgame shows, locker-room access and player interviews, on-ice in-game player access and a number of additional elements fans will certainly appreciate," Corno said. "Chicago sports fans are in for a television experience like never before."
Wow! All this happens at a hockey game? Who knew?
New Hawks chairman Rocky Wirtz said the club is "entering a new era." *
* The 1960s?

Sports sayings that don't make sense
So someone at work (hyooooge sports fan - he even wears Blackhawk jerseys to work) is coming up with a list of sports sayings that don't make sense. The first one was "bases clearing double". The bases aren't cleared - there's someone at second. So how is it a bases clearing double? Anyway, care to add examples to his list?
