One less thing to worry about

Though somehow, this is still bound to wipe out the Horror bullpen eventually...

liberal media HATING McCain camp just because they get a little confused about the facts sometimes

I guess we'll have to keep explaining to them over and over the difference between factual truth and emotional truth.

Sen. John McCain’s top campaign aides convened a conference call today to complain of being called “liars.” They pressed the media to scrutinize specific elements of Sen. Barack Obama’s record.

But the call was so rife with simple, often inexplicable misstatements of fact that it may have had the opposite effect: to deepen the perception, dangerous to McCain, that he and his aides have little regard for factual accuracy.

The errors in McCain strategist Steve Schmidt’s charges against Obama and Sen. Joe Biden were particularly notable because they seemed unnecessary. Schmidt repeatedly gilded the lily: He exaggerated the Biden family's already problematic ties to the credit card industry; Obama’s embarrassing relationship with a 1960s radical; and an Obama supporter’s over-the-top attack on Sarah Palin when — in each case — the truth would have been damaging enough.

“Any time the Obama campaign is criticized at any level, the critics are immediately derided as liars,” Schmidt told reporters. (Yeah! And since you always lie about us being liars, that means every time you accuse us of lying, you're lying again, so we're not the liars, you're the liars - LIARS! Ed.)

But as he went on to list a series of stories he thought reporters should be writing about Obama and Biden, in almost every instance he got the details wrong.

Well, he's right, but...

Governor says CTA wastes money

Posted by Monique Garcia at 3:13 p.m.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich blasted leaders of the Chicago Transit Authority on Wednesday, accusing the agency of wasting taxpayer money and lying about the impact of his program to give free rides to thousands of seniors.

The governor went on the attack after Mayor Richard Daley said Blagojevich should be blamed if the CTA is forced to raise fares to pay for the free rides. Blagojevich accused the CTA of exaggerating the cost of the free rides and accused CTA board members of being beholden to City Hall, not riders.

Blagojevich, who controls three of the appointments on the seven-member board, said he wanted to appoint new members who would be more independent. The mayor appoints the other four members.

"We want to put some people in there who will press the leaders of the CTA everyday on where all the money is going," Blagojevich said.

Arctic icemelt a rising danger
Disintegrating Greenland glaciers an accelerating coastal threat

One of the world’s largest masses of ice could melt much faster than predicted, says a new study that warns the steady loss of the Greenland ice sheet could raise sea levels three times higher than estimated.
. . .

Carlson says that if the Greenland sheet completely disappeared, it would raise sea levels by seven metres, adding that even the slightest increases could threaten hundreds of millions of people in coastal communities.

"The word ’glacial’ used to imply that something was very slow," co-author Allegra LeGrande of the New York-based NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies wrote in the report. "This new evidence . . . indicates that ’glacial’ is anything but slow.

Putin Accuses U.S. In Georgia War
Russia PM Suspects War Linked To Presidential Campaign; White House Dismisses Claim As "Patently False"

Putin, the former president and architect of an assertive foreign policy that has stoked East-West tension, suggested in an interview with CNN that there was an American presence amid the combat with a potential domestic U.S. political motive.

"We have serious grounds to think that there were U.S. citizens right in the combat zone" during Russia's war with the U.S.-allied ex-Soviet republic, he said the interview broadcast on state-run Russian television.
. . .

"If my guesses are confirmed, then that raises the suspicion that somebody in the United States purposefully created this conflict with the aim of aggravating the situation and creating an advantage ... for one of the candidates in the battle for the post of U.S. president."
. . .

White House press secretary Dana Perino called Putin's contentions "patently false."

Much like how many homes you own, it's not always easy to recall all of your siblings...

But lying about Mother Theresa? Isn't that a one-way ticket to Hell?

Christian Science Monitor:
The latest embellishments come from the McCain camp.

Cindy McCain has repeatedly referred to herself as an “only child.”
This week came news that she actually has two half sisters, although apparently she had very little contact with them.
The McCain campaign had also put out the story that Mother Teresa “convinced” Cindy to bring home two orphans from Bangladesh in 1991.
Mrs. McCain, it turns out, never met Mother Teresa on that trip. (Once contacted by the Monitor, the campaign revised the story on its website.)

I wonder if Cindy got her cookie recipes from Mother Theresa, too. It speaks volumes about the woman who hopes to be the First Lady of our country.

whitey: fullas#i+

Only nine per cent of Americans say they'd be uncomfortable about electing a black president, the LA Times found -- but a majority say they "know someone" who feels this way: that's a standard pollster's technique to try to get around the unwillingness of respondents to admit to racist thoughts.
