The Colorado River, the Yellow River in northern China, the Ganges in India and the Niger in West Africa are losing water, in some cases because of the effects of climate change*, a new study finds.

yet annudder shocker
The liberal media LOVES Obama.
NEW YORK (figgers - Ed...) (Updated Monday) The Obama-Biden ticket maintains its strong lead in the race for daily newspaper endorsements, by 112 to 39, a than 3-1 margin, picking up 70 or more papers in the past three days...
In a real shocker, two solid Bush papers in 2004, the Houston Chronicle and Austin American-Statesman, also came out for Obama today...
For McCain: Las Vegas Review, Jackson (Miss.) Sun, Fargo (ND) Forum, Bakersfield (Ca.) Californian, Leaf-Chronicle of Clarksville, Tenn., The Daily Press of Hampton Roads, Va., several papers in Texas (Lubbock, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Longview, Wichita Falls), and the Nutter Fort (WV) Daily Wingnut and Tasty Squirrel.

Christopher Buckley: wid da tarrists
No real surprise here, as you can't get through more than two or three sentences of his effete, snobby prose without being hit across the Sizzlin-Picante-dusted maw with the realization that he is an elitist. I'm sorry -- an ELITIST. Maybe they should feed him to a hungry McCain/Palin rally and watch them fight over who gets to devour his still-beating heart...
Christopher Buckley, Meet the Conservative Mob
Remember last week, when Christopher Buckley took his Obama endorsement to The Daily Beast so as not to offend his National Review readers? Well, no such luck. It looks like the aggrieved readers got to him anyway. Buckley writes about his abrupt departure from the magazine in his latest Daily Beast column.

McCain - wid da tarrists
I look forward to Barracuda's attacks on him.
On Wednesday morning, John McCain's campaign released a list of 100 former ambassadors endorsing the GOP presidential nominee.
Second on the list, though her name is misspelled, is Leonore Annenberg, currently the president and chairman of the Annenberg Foundation and widow of ambassador and philanthropist Walter Annenberg. Ms. Annenberg was herself the "chief of protocol" at the State Department under President Reagan.
If the last name sounds familiar, it's because it also graces the name of the Chicago education board where Barack Obama and William Ayers sat in the room six times together.

A SHOCKING percentage of Lou Dobbs viewers DID NOT agree with Lou Dobbs tonight and are consequently wid da tarrists
Do you believe we will hear either candidate offer any real solutions on the issues of illegal immigration, free trade, outsourcing and prosperity?
Yes 13% 655
No 87% 4581
Total Votes: 5236
Though sublimely inane, this is not a scientific poll

Q: Which part of Virginia is communist country?
A: All of it.
News item: Sen. John McCain's brother, Joe, made an apparent joke today that Democratic-leaning Alexandria and Arlington are "Communist country."
News item: Key finding: McCain no longer leads in any region of the state.

even Charles Krauthammer is wid da tarrists
Charles Krauthammer on Barack Obama:
"...he's got both a first-class intellect and a first-class temperament. That will likely be enough to make him president."

House Republicans - wid da tarrists
House GOP rises up against Cheney
The vice president traveled to Capitol Hill on Tuesday to silence a chorus of GOP complaints about Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s $700 billion plan. But House Republicans who walked into a closed-door meeting with Cheney steaming over the plan walked out just as angry, and they described what happened in between as both “a bloodbath” and “an unmitigated disaster.”

Who is with the terrorists now? Hand-picked U.S. military officials...
Gitmo jury gives bin Laden driver 5 1/2 years
GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba - A U.S. military jury gave Osama bin Laden's driver a surprisingly light sentence on Thursday, making him eligible for release in just five months despite the prosecutors' request for at least a 30-year sentence to deter would-be terrorists.
Salim Hamdan's sentence of 5 1/2 years, including five years and a month already served at Guantanamo Bay, fell far short of the life sentence he could have gotten for aiding terrorism by driving and guarding bin Laden. It now goes for mandatory review to a Pentagon official who can shorten the sentence but not extend it.

This just in: Jon Voight is profoundly developmentally disabled
Jon Voight's Obama Op-Ed: "[He] Falls Short In Every Way"
The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.
Assuming Pfleger et al have a "need to demoralize the country," could the U.S. and A. possibly get much more demoralized than they are already?

KO yammering on about BushCo again...
Republicans have taken Nixon's disgraced tactics and approach to presidential power as their starting point. They have learned that if caught, deny it. If that doesn't work, ignore the fact you have been caught and just keep doing it, and claim you have the inherent power to do so. They can get away with it because right-wing talk radio and Fox Cable News have become the cheering section that did not exist during Watergate. As for oversight, during the first six years of the Bush/Cheney administration, the GOP-controlled Congress could not even spell the word "oversight." Only now are we approaching real tests of whether the Democratic Congress will go the distance to get the information they are entitled to have.
Then again, what would you expect from... wait... that was John Dean who said that. Sorry.
