Why yes, only 56 DAYS, 9 Hrs, 4 Mins, 12.8 Secs to go...

Bush, who spoke after meeting with Paulson and other Cabinet members at the Treasury Department, said they all realize that Americans are concerned for their jobs and savings.

"We will safeguard the financial system as the first step necessary for economic recovery," the president said. "This is a tough situation. But we will recover from it."

Ed Wade: he's a modern-day Robin Hood...

...for crappy, veteran relief pitchers:

Oscar Villarreal has refused his assignment to Triple-A, with the Houston Chronicle reporting that the Astros will release him if they can't find a taker via trade. Villarreal was designated for assignment last week, just three months after inking a two-year, $2.85 million deal with the Astros.

Chip Caray Nails It: Or how to make 4 mistakes in 7 words

In praising Jimy Williams work ethic with young players, said:

"Adam Everett, who is a young, budding star with the Houston Astros..."

Let's see, he plays for Minnesota now.

Not young: he's 31 years old.

Not budding: he has been on a major league roster since 2001.

A star? Ok, the guy is good fielding SS, but his career batting line is .246/.298/.355. He's the definition of "good field, no hit" and has been since he was young and budding.

Chip's bulb is dimmer than Skip's and Harry's, and that is saying A LOT.

However, on the list of Carays I Hate, he only places 3rd:

1) Skip Caray
2) Harry Caray
3) Chip Caray

Not only is he a HYOOOGE @$$#0LE...

...but he's an enormous idiot as well:

Bobby Knight picked Pittsburgh to win the NCAA basketball tournament. They lost tonight IN THE SECOND ROUND to a mediocre team from the mediocre Big Ten conference.  Hey Knight, you're some "expert"...have you considered weather forecasting?

And you think Smiff has been drinking again?

Bret Boone revealed Monday than an alcohol problem contributed to him walking away from the game two years ago. Boone had gotten to the point where he would drink 12-15 beers after a game.

in baseball terms: Dumbya has dropped below the Mendoza Line

Looks like a lot of voters have flip-flopped....what do you have to say for yourselves?

Worse than Watergate: Bush scores lowest presidential approval rating EVER!

George W. Bush is now the most unpopular president in recorded American history.

Overall, 19% of Americans say that they approve of the way George W. Bush is handling his job as president, 77% disapprove, and 4% are undecided.

Well, I'm starting a "My S#i+ Don't Stink" campaign...

Bush aiming to establish positive legacy

I'm putting one thing in the positive column for now: did not start war with Iran. Of course, this could change by tomorrow. Can't think of anything else. Anyone?

still an idiot

John Zogby--K-Mad's boy--tonight on The Daily Show: "I don't know." I guess that's a slight improvement on 2004 when he picked Kerry.

aka Smiff's Beer

Coronado Brewing's Idiot IPA
The CBC Idiot IPA is an all natural India Pale Ale. A big beer with an 8.5% ABV and brewed with over 3 lbs of hops per barrel. Watch out, this unfiltered "San Diego IPA" has been known to reduce even the most intelligent to a blithering "idiot".

Dead Weight Is Back With A Vengeance

Didn't take him long to reclaim his previous standing as the "Worst GM In Baseball." Just horrendous...

Astros signed second baseman Kaz Matsui, who had been with the Rockies, to a three-year, $16.5 million contract. Matsui gets an extra $1.5 million from what was originally reported. "Kaz is an ideal fit for our club," Astros GM Ed Wade said. "Kaz runs extremely well. He steals bases, moves runners and takes the extra base. He plays the game the right way." Getting redundant already? He's also injury-prone, he doesn't hit lefties and his career high in RBI is 44.

Is that all?

U.S. spending on Iraq, Afghanistan will hit $1.6 trillion: report

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will have cost the United States at least $1.6 trillion by 2008, according to a report by Congress's Joint Economic Committee that is scheduled to be released Tuesday on Capitol Hill.

...the war efforts would reach $1.6 trillion for the period between 2002 and 2008, roughly $20,900 for each family of four.
(or $83,600 per person)

The committee also said that costs could be expected to rise, reaching up to $3.5 trillion between 2003 and 2017.

The total is roughly double the $804 billion the White House has already requested to finance the missions, the report stated. "The full economic costs of the war to American taxpayers and the overall U.S. economy go well beyond even the immense federal budget costs already reported," it read.

Some conclusions:
1) Maybe Dumbya should have majored in math instead of cheer leading at Yale? And that Harvard MBA? May as well be on used terlet paper.
2) HYOOOGE mistakes were made.
3) More tax cuts are needed for the very wealthy and the military contractors making a killing off the war.
4) You kids who need S-CHIP: go phokk yourselves. Better yet, just die already.
5) And in related news, let us not forget that Pres. Man-Child is a fiscal conservative:

Bush wields veto pen — again

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - President Bush, escalating his budget battle with Congress, on Tuesday vetoed a spending measure for health and education programs prized by congressional Democrats.

Bush hammered Democrats for what he called a tax-and-spend philosophy:

"The Congress now sitting in Washington holds this philosophy," Bush told an audience of business and community leaders. "The majority was elected on a pledge of fiscal responsibility, but so far it's acting like a teenager with a new credit card."

Thank you, he'll be here all week. And his philosophy? It's called borrow-and-spend-and-when-the-bill-comes-due-and-the-depression-hits-I'll-
be-cutting-brush-at-the-ranch-Suckers!

a mind is a terrible thing to waste

"But it's also a time of war for our country. I wish I did not have to report that, but it's the truth. It's the way it is in the world in which we live."--Dumbya, today

Yes, you're right, and do you know why? YOU STARTED THE WAR! YOU!! Uh, did you forget that? Is there ANYTHING in your head?

It's the way it is in the world in which we live (whew...) because of the idiot who contructed that sentence.

Also, go phokk yourself.

Make up your mind...

Dumbya previously:

“I don’t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don’t care. It’s not that important. It’s not our priority.”

“I don’t know where he is. I’ll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.”

“Deep in my heart I know the man’s on the run, if he’s alive at all…I just don’t spend much time on it, really, to be honest with you.”

And who disbanded the CIA unit dedicated to finding bin Laden?

Dumbya today:

“Some in Washington should spend more time responding to the warnings of terrorists like Osama bin Laden, and the requests of our commanders on the ground, and less time responding to the demands of MoveOn.org bloggers and Code Pink protesters.”

Dumbya all-the-time:

compassionate conservatism: an example

G-Dumb after visiting with wounded veterans from the Amputee Care Center of Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio on 1/1/06:

"As you can possibly see, I have an injury myself--not here at the hospital, but in combat with a cedar. I eventually won. The cedar gave me a little scratch."

ok, i will call it: The Idiotic Ramblings of a Mental Midget

"And so, in my State of the--my State of the Union--or state--my speech to the nation, whatever you want to call it, speech to the nation--I asked Americans to give four thousand years--four thousand hours over the next--the rest of your life--of service to America. That's what I asked--four thousand hours."--Bridgeport, CT; 4/9/02

"Anyway, after we go out and work our hearts out, after you go out and help us turn out the vote, after we've convinced the good Americans to vote, and while they're at it, pull that old George W. lever, if I'm the one, when I put my hand on the bible, when I put my hand on the Bible, that day when they swear us in, when I put my hand on the Bible, I will swear to not--to uphold the laws of the land."--Toledo, OH; 10/27/00

or, how to make Barry Bonds look good

Commissioner Bud Selig announced that he will not take any disciplinary measures against Jason Giambi given his cooperation with Senator George Mitchell's investigation and his off-field charitable activities.
How ridiculous. The only reason Selig didn't issue a suspension months ago is that he knew there was no way it'd hold up in front of an arbitrator. Everything else is merely politics. Giambi essentially admitted to using steroids in an interview earlier this year, but since he didn't pinpoint when it happened, there was never anything that could be done.
