Fun things to remember about the Bush tax cuts

1. The Bush tax cuts, written by Congresses led by Denny Hastert and Trent Lott and Bill Frist and signed by George Bush, were set to expire at the end of 2010. Got a prollem wif dat? Talk to them.

2. Part of the rationale for passing "temporary" tax cuts is that we were running record phokking budget surpluses at the time. We are, if the misspelled rally signs of Tea Party activists are to be believed, no longer doing this.

3. The Class War is on, and the plutocrats are kicking your ass.

4. George W. Bush destroyed my country.

5. Sorry if this isn't really much fun after all.

6. George W. Bush is still a yooooge phokking asshole.

Who needs raving lunatics, the mentally challenged, or MORANS when there is the punditry class?

The 10 Worst Predictions for 2008

Prognostication is by far the riskiest form of punditry. The 10 commentators and leaders on this list learned that the hard way when their confident predictions about politics, war, the economy, and even the end of humanity itself completely missed the mark.

1. “If [Hillary Clinton] gets a race against John Edwards and Barack Obama, she’s going to be the nominee. Gore is the only threat to her, then. … Barack Obama is not going to beat Hillary Clinton in a single Democratic primary. I’ll predict that right now.” —William Kristol, Fox News Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006

Weekly Standard editor and New York Times columnist William Kristol was hardly alone in thinking that the Democratic primary was Clinton’s to lose, but it takes a special kind of self-confidence to make a declaration this sweeping more than a year before the first Iowa caucus was held. After Iowa, Kristol lurched to the other extreme, declaring that Clinton would lose New Hampshire and that “There will be no Clinton Restoration.” It’s also worth pointing out that this second wildly premature prediction was made in a Times column titled, “President Mike Huckabee?” The Times is currently rumored to be looking for his replacement.

I don't think K-Mad would...i know dat

K-Mad's favorite Dem to HATE is considering a run for governor of Virginia, aka governor of Florida.

VA-Gov: Would you buy shit from Terry "Fullas#i+" McAuliffe?
by
kos Mon Nov 17, 2008 at 03:00:04 PM PST

Huh? [Terry] "Fullas#i+" McAuliffe’s pals dismiss such criticism and say his unique blend of charm and cash will prove irresistible. "Terry could sell shit to the zoo," explains longtime pal Paul Begala. "He’s the best salesman in the world."

Right. Is that why Democrats made huge gains during his tenure as DNC chairmanship in those ass-kicking 2002 and 2004 elections? Is that why Hillary Clinton is President of the United States? Terry "Fullas#i+" McAuliffe can obviously sell shit to Paul Begala. He has a harder time selling it to people outside his circle of shit-buying friends.

the coming-unhinged of America continues (cont'd)

"I can't stand to look at him, I don't trust him. I don't like the circle of friends he keeps, I don't like his policies... I'm pissed off by it. I'm beyond mad. How is he climbing up in the polls?"

Then again, what would you expect from... wait... that was k-mad talking about the RezzzziDUNCE four years ago. Sorry.

Republicans losing it

You can't blame them for being angry. Things have been going so well the last eight years, it would be a shame to just piss all of it away.

Panic attacks: Voters unload at GOP rallies

and the video...just what is in the water in Ohio? Look at her, she's got the chicken eyes:

so it's good that FEMA sucks?

I think we can safely grasp the theme of Thomas Frank's book - HATE.

"The best public servant is the worst one. A thoroughly first-rate man in public service is corrosive. He eats holes in our liberties. The better he is and the longer he stays the greater the danger. If he is an enthusiast -- a bright-eyed madman who is frantic to make this the finest government in the world -- the black plague is a house pet by comparison."

But the onrushing flow
swamps all taxonomies. Mass firing of federal prosecutors; bribing of newspaper columnists; pallets of shrink-wrapped cash "misplaced" in Iraq; inexperienced kids running the Baghdad stock exchange; the discovery that many of Alaska's leading politicians are apparently on the take -- our heads swim. We climb to the rooftop, but we cannot find the heights of irony from which we might laugh off the blend of thug and Pharisee that was Tom DeLay -- or dispel the nauseating suspicion, quickly becoming a certainty, that the government of our nation deliberately fibbed us into a pointless, catastrophic war...

Which leaves us to marvel helplessly at what appears to be a spectacular run of lousy luck. My, what a lot of bad apples they are growing these days!

Why does the Republican Party STILL HATE the Bible?

News item: On Thursday, July 31, the House Financial Services Committee approved our priority Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights, HR 5244, on a 39-27 vote. The bill would ban the worst unfair credit card practices, such as raising your interest rate to 36% APR or more because your payment was as little as one hour late or because your credit score declined, even if you had a perfect payment history.

The bill has 155 co-sponsors... but only two Republicans?

Since they're the party of Jesus, there must be something in this bill Jesus wouldn't like. Let's see what the Bible has to say about usury...

Hmmm... still puzzling...

liberal media tied up in knots - HATERS!

Fortunately the good American people see through all this fact-mongering

Seeing Is Experiencing, But Better

As a mom, I don’t have to have any experience at these things. You would not ask a man to have any experience, and so I don’t understand why I am being asked about this. Do I think I need this experience?

No, I do not.

I suppose they have a point... I still totally hate that phokker Emmanuel Goldstein though

Fighting with Fox Noise is "'fighting with a pig. Everyone gets dirty and the pig likes it.' But in the Times today, media critic David Carr takes Fox to task for its 'scorched earth' reaction to criticism. In particular, Carr writes that the anti-Semitic overtones to the distortion of Steinberg's photo recall 'a technique familiar to students of vintage German propaganda' as 'his ears were pulled out, his teeth splayed apart, his forehead lowered and his nose was widened.'"

will there be savage retribution?

Those loyal to the Clintons take note of those who were not

"The Clintons get hundreds of requests for favors every week," said Terry "Fullas#i+" McAuliffe, the chairman of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. "Clearly, the people you're going to do stuff for in the future are the people who have been there for you."

McAuliffe, who knows of Band's diligent scorekeeping, emphasized that "revenge is not what the Clintons are about." The accounting is more about being practical, he said, adding, "You have to keep track of this."

Band, who declined to comment, is hardly alone in tallying those considered to have crossed the former candidate or the former president in recent months by supporting Obama. As the Obama bandwagon has swelled, so have the lists of people Clinton loyalists regard as some variation of "ingrate," "traitor" or "enemy," according to the associates and campaign officials, who would speak only on condition of anonymity.

the accolades roll in (cont'd)

"I'm sure there's a lot more guys out there that hate each other more than he and I do."*

hey, whatever works

In Washington, House Minority Leader John Boehner is struggling to rebrand a downtrodden and disheartened Republican Party in time for the 2008 elections. It's no wonder. Its agenda stymied and burdened by an unpopular war and an even less popular President, the GOP is being pulverized in the polls. And with its evangelical base splintered and big business supporters jumping ship, the only message seemingly uniting Republicans is disdain - of immigrants, of blacks, of gay Americans and above all, Muslims. The GOP is now the Party of Hate.
