Carlos Zambrano Has Never Made the Wrong Pitch

Cubs’ Zambrano--clearly insane--apologizes for remarks

CINCINNATI (AP)—Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano has apologized to closer Carlos Marmol for second-guessing how he pitched in Chicago’s most recent loss.

Zambrano criticized Marmol’s approach after a 3-2 loss Sunday at St. Louis. He said Marmol should have thrown Ryan Theriot a fastball rather than a slider, which the former Cubs player hit for a tying double in the ninth inning. Albert Pujols won it with a homer in the 10th.

Zambrano said before Monday night’s game at Cincinnati that he was wrong to criticize Marmol that way. He said he made the remarks out of frustration. Manager Mike Quade also talked to Zambrano and said he won’t be fined.

Crazy Being Crazy

Carlos Zambrano was ejected from Wednesday's game against the Pirates in the seventh inning after bumping into umpire Mark Carlson.
Zambrano was upset about a play at the plate, and after being tossed, he made a big scene, indicating that he had ejected Carlson from the game, throwing a ball into left field, throwing his glove against the dugout screen and clubbing the dugout's Gatorade fountain with a bat. The Arlington Daily Herald anticipates that he'll be suspended for at least one start. He gave up two runs -- one earned -- in 6 1/3 innings before departing.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no

Rotoworld is the messenger:

The Cubs confirmed that Carlos Zambrano left Wednesday's game with shoulder discomfort. He'll be examined on Thursday.

Zambrano wanted to continue to pitching, but he did indicate that shoulder was bothering him in the dugout after departing in the seventh. If the Cubs are forced to put him on the disabled list, they could put Jon Lieber back into the rotation. Neither Sean Marshall nor Rich Hill would seem to be an option right now. K-Mad now affecting potassium levels...

Carlos Zambrano is expected to make his next start after leaving Monday's game with forearm cramps. "He's fine," manager Lou Piniella said. "His potassium level was a little low. I think that was the problem." Zambrano is scheduled to face the Astros on Sunday.

3 days rest: is this ever a good idea?

Carlos Zambrano was ineffective working on three days' rest Tuesday, giving up four runs and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Reds. Zambrano walked three and struck out just one while falling to 1-4 against Cincinnati this season. As tough of an opponent as the Reds have been for him, this was more of a case of Zambrano just not being any good tonight. Manager Lou Piniella might have made a crucial mistake choosing to bring both Big Z and Ted Lilly back on three days' rest this week.

Big Z to apologize to fans

Zambrano meets with Cubs brass
By Paul "the Brain Dead Idiot" Sullivan, 3:26 p.m.
The Carlos Zambrano apology tour returns to Wrigley Field on Tuesday when the Cubs right-hander holds a pre-game press conference to apologize for his actions on Monday. In the original show, back on June 2 at Wrigley, Zambrano apologized for punching Michael Barrett in the face. "It's all my fault, that's all I can say," he said of punching Barrett. "I feel bad because I have to be in control of myself." This time Zambrano is expected to apologize for punching Cubs fans in the face and acting in an inappropriate manner [how is the different from his usual manner?] while being removed from the game. Zambrano is currently meeting with Cubs brass, and an announcement will soon be made regarding a briefing.

So he's not going to apologize for his AWFUL pitching?
