Eagles rookie Jack Ikegwuonu was identified in a photo on Facebook with what appears to be a "bong" and other possible drug-related items. The photo has since been removed from Facebook, but Profootballtalk has it. Ikegwuonu, who is spending his rookie year on IR, also appears to have a straw and white powder is visible on a glass table in front of him. The photo was on Ikewguonu's sister's Facebook page. She says she Photoshopped it.

Corms Concedes Scrabulous/Wordscraper
Bombards Fungster with "requests"

It appears that Corms has conceded the dominance of the Fungster in the Scrabulous/Wordscraper world. Fungster had at least two double digit winning streaks, and Corms apparently decided that was enuff. So he started bombarding the Fungster with requests to install udder applications. Scramble? Knighthood? (lil) Green Patch? Nations? Birthday Reminder? (I don't get this one, I mean, doesn't Facebook already tell you whose birthday is coming up?)

In any case, this new strategy has been fruitful. Fungster, the competitive sucker that he is, started up on scramble (which also sounds suspiciously like Scrabble). And got DESTROYED. In Fung's defence, that was his first go-around. Corms has many rounds around his belt. It also requires 3 consecutive minutes of concentration. Two problems: 1. ADD. 2. Can't get that kinda time @ work. So, methinks Fung is screwed...

The next wave in advertising

Ok, so I was on the facebooks, playing that one game I play quite often (Sarge, really, this is ridiculous - you have until next monday, udderwise it's going as a loss). Anyway, this game has ads in it, and for one of the ads, they took a picture of one of my "friends" and her name and put it into the ad. I think it was for some sort of movie or something. Then later, I think it was a variation on the message, but this time they used another friend. Now, I don't know if buried in the usage agreement we never read before we signed up there's a paragraph saying "oh yeah, advertisers can use your face and name to advertise to your friends without you knowing and without you getting anything out of it" but if there is I'd be mighty miffed. Here's annudder thing. I have my year of birth blocked, though of course da lords at Facebook know what it is. However, there's annudder ad dat comes up that refers to how old I am. So maybe it's an automated thing and the advertisers actually can't see how old I am, but again dis is a little frightening. I may have to do a bit more digging into this one...

facecrap continues to suck

I added Twitter to the mini-feed so everyone could see my brilliant updates like "sammich." Of course, it doesn't work. Doesn't update. And yes, i went into edit and checked everything (twice), and then i unchecked and doublechecked and rechecked and reloaded and reupdated (three times). Also pre-boarded. Still doesn't work.

The phokking thing sucks. I blame Fung.

Ok, it really is Smiff...

Being somewhat suspicious of spam in any format, I had trouble believing Smiff really had finally joined the dark side that is any social networking site invented post-Friendster.

But it's him - proof:

Smiff removed "King Crimson" from his favorite music.

That is awesome.

Social networking site Facebook is mainly unavailable this afternoon (that would be dis morning for dose of us in da good ol' USA - ed).
Several Register readers mailed to tell us of the problem for UK surfers.

A spokeswoman for Facebook UK told The Reg it was aware of the problems and was investigating.

The site is showing a blank page.

Maybe too many people are trying to organise their trips to Glastonbury this weekend. Or maybe the admins have taken a page from Faceparty's book and gone to the zoo. ®

When are we gonna convince Smiff to join the fun? And is Ranger holding out too? Me thinks the rest of us have been suckered in...
