Joe Torre practicing his love with 'proven veterans' across America...

I pfink even Dusty is starting to get jealous:

Juan Pierre is starting over Matt Kemp for a third straight game Monday and the fourth time in seven games this season. It'd be one thing if Pierre was actually producing, but he's 1-for-11 at the plate. He also played a huge role in a loss last Wednesday when he botched a sac bunt in the ninth and got caught stealing to end the game. We were worried for Kemp owners after Andre Ethier was named a starter over Pierre, but we never imagined it'd get this bad so quickly.

There's one word for this and dat word is: Idiotic.

the most idiotic thing i've heard since Dumbya's last news conference

A woman referee was not allowed to officiate at a basketball game at St. Mary's Academy in Topeka, Kan., because the athletic director didn't want a woman "put in a position of authority over boys."

Hmmm, which begs the question, are there mothers in Kansas?

compassionate conservatism: an example

G-Dumb after visiting with wounded veterans from the Amputee Care Center of Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio on 1/1/06:

"As you can possibly see, I have an injury myself--not here at the hospital, but in combat with a cedar. I eventually won. The cedar gave me a little scratch."

speaking of dumb Dumbya quotes

"It's very interesting when you think about it, the slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America."--Dakar, Senegal; 7/8/03

It's Official: Brett Myers' brain has flat-lined

"We don't need [Hamels]. He's only won 14 games."--Phillies idiot man-child Brett Myers

And he told a sportswriter he doesn't know anything about baseball??

uh, aren't they in the playoff hunt? HELLO?!

Manager John McLaren said Wednesday that Horacio Ramirez will remain in the Mariners' rotation despite a 7.38 ERA. "What we're looking for is a location of the fastball and a differential of the fastball and changeup," McLaren said. "He's pitched some good games for us. We haven't given up on him. I know a lot of people are down on him. He still believes in himself."

Maybe they would take Adam Eaton off our hands?

what could be more patriotic than fighting in Iraq?

Romney Speaks Up for Sons' Decisions
1:25 PM CDT, August 8, 2007
BETTENDORF, Iowa - Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Wednesday defended his five sons' decision not to enlist in the military, saying they're showing their support for the country by "helping me get elected."

Romney, who did not serve in Vietnam due to his Mormon missionary work and a high draft lottery number, was asked the question by an anti-war activist after a speech in which he called for "a surge of support" for U.S. forces in Iraq.

Romney noted that his middle son, 36-year-old Josh, was completing a recreational vehicle tour of all 99 Iowa counties on Wednesday and said, "I respect that and respect all those and the way they serve this great country."

All five sons also show their patriotism by being frequent "anonymous posters" on blogger sites.

I concur.

"If baseball commissioner Bud Selig honors Barry Bond's 756th home run as a record, can we the add the commissioner and Major League Baseball to your list of people and things that aren't what they used be?"

Neither has been what they used to be for quite some time. But you are right. The time approaches when both can be added to the list of things that aren't what they weren't what they used to be.

catch-up: more idiotic things Da RezzziDUNCE once actually said

"The only thing I know about Slovakia is what I learned firsthand from your foreign minister, who came to Texas."--To a Slovakian journalist; 6/22/99 [Bush's meeting was with Janez Drnovsek, the prime minister of Slovenia.]

"I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves."--Washington, D.C.; 9/21/03

"[I]t's a myth to think I don't know what's going on. It's a myth to think I'm not aware that there's opinions that don't agree with mine, because I'm fully aware of that."--Philadelphia; 12/12/05

AWFUL.

Cubs acquired catcher Jason Kendall and cash from the Athletics for catcher Rob Bowen and LHP Jerry Blevins.
The cash will cover a portion of his $13 million salary, which had been being paid by both the A's ($8 million) and the Pirates ($5 million). With a .226/.261/.281 line this year, Kendall is no sure upgrade...unless he were to replace a dead guy.

anudder idiotic thing Dumbya said...

funny...well, nice knowing ya

After throwing 114 pitches in his major league debut Friday, Homer Bailey said his legs and back were sore, but his arm felt fine.
He is scheduled to start against the Angels on Thursday afternoon at Great American Ball Park. Bartolo Colon is scheduled to start for the Angels. "The guy is 21 years old," manager Jerry Narron said. "He has a chance to really be special. It's all a matter now of continuing to improve."
