That's some hot sweaty maverick-on-maverick maverickyness...
Clearly pandering to the ice fishing, Liberty University attending, moose burger eating, blue collar Yup'ik Eskimo National Rifle Association vote.
"More recently, she has come under the scrutiny of an investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature into the possibility that she ordered the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper."
There is probably an interesting story behind that.
This pick is so revealing in every way. People have been saying the Clintons don't want Obama to win...do the people in the Republican Party who whispered this in McCain's ear want him to win?
In an interview just a month ago, she dissed the job, saying it didn’t seem “productive.”
Palin replied: “As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”
So if both the Republicans and Democrats are trying to sabotage their candidates, who wins? Bob Barr? That former congresswoman from Georgia? McKinney? Write in Fungster? Oh wait, he ain't old enuff yet. Could write in Smiff though. Smiff-Costanza 08!
I've been analyzing this pick in my head for a few hours and it's kind of interesting from a purely political strategy point of view. Ultimately it's also a waste of time since it's been 48 years since a VP pick has had a meaningful impact on a presidential race.
