The freewheeling consortium blog about baseball, still hating George Bush, the weather, Chicago, live-blogging the End Times, the Chicago hot dog (NO KETCHUP!), inane rambling, and forever and always hating George Bush. ~ "Baseball is more than a game to me, it's a religion." -- Bill Klem, umpire. ~ "They're really behind ya around here..." -- Lee Elia, former manager ~

Sigh....another loser team that's less losinger than the Cubs. Enjoy Smiff, we Cubs fans shall live vicariously through you now for we can only fantasize about the day.
What are you talking about?
World Series won:
Cubs 2
Phillies 2
He may have meant total losses, which I do believe da Phils lead in, don't they? Also, any World series won more than 100 years ago counts as 5 now. By Order of Bud.
I'll tell you - besides the one blow-out - those were all good games. I was happy for Smiff - I thought I wanted the Rays to win - and I liked them - but I found myself happy for Jimmy Rollins and Jamie Moyer especially. And outside of Brett Myers - I was pretty happy.
I mean - I just don't know what to say about the Cubs. Watching how bad they were in the play-offs, I still feel sucker punched.
But watching the Phillies brand of baseball, patient and tenacious - it was good baseball to watch. Somewhere Tug McGraw is smiling.
And that's cool.
